Everyone can find a place to stay on the island with these Bora-Bora cheap hotels and accommodations.
Bora-Bora cheap hotels....do they exist? Bora Bora has more magnificent hotels than any other island in French Polynesia. This includes 16 big, luxurious hotels and resorts on the main island and offshore motus (islets). Add to this the family-owned pensions, condos, villas and privately owned motus and you will see there are accommodations for anyone and everyone.
This may make choosing a place difficult, but remember that no matter where you stay or how much you decide to spend,
the people are friendly,
the views are spectacular,
and the lagoon is a sparkling gem.
The prices at the
Bora Bora luxury hotels
may make you think that there is no way you can afford to come to Bora Bora! However, Bora-Bora cheap hotels do exist. There are other options that you do not see on most of the travel sites.
There are family-owned pensions, or small hotels, that feature bungalows on the beach next door to some of the big resorts. Everyone shares the same,
If your accommodations are the least of your interests in coming to Bora Bora, you can find a standard hotel "room" across the street from the lagoon at a very reasonable rate.
Some of the Bora-Bora cheap hotels are actually the most unique! It all depends on what you prefer.
Here are some examples:
#1- The Rohotu Fare Lodge
The most exotic of the Bora-Bora cheap hotels, maybe of all Bora Bora hotels! Built onto the hillside across from Povai Bay, these 3 exceptional bungalows are surrounded by a beautiful botanical garden and are only 600 feet (250 meters) from the lagoon. The many species of tropical fruit and hardwood trees provide peacefulness and privacy for each bungalow. Each is decorated with original artwork, including some of an erotic nature. There are 2 lagoon view bungalows and 1 mountain view bungalow, each with its own design. However, some features common to each bungalow are teak floors and thatched roofs, marble floors in the bathroom, and an outdoor shower in a private garden. Very romantic....
You can use free bikes to go to the village of Vaitape only 10 minutes away, or the owner, Nir Shalev, will take you to the beach or any activity you would like.
Rate range: 2008 rate per bungalow is 160 euro or approx. $204.00 for 1-2 people. (Conversion from Euro to American dollar varies) Extra person is 30 Euro or $38.00. Under 10 years old are free.

#2- Novotel Bora Bora Beach Resort
This Bora-Bora cheap hotel offers many opportunities for the budget-minded traveler. There are 80 air-conditioned "standard" hotel rooms at this hotel managed by Sofitel, which also runs the Sofitel Bora Bora Beach Resort next door and the Sofitel Motu a 5-minute boat ride away. The rooms are in 10 two-story buildings among the gardens on the mountain side of the road. All other parts of the hotel are across the street by the lagoon, including the reception, beachfront restaurant and bar, swimming pool and activity center. The Nemo World Diving center is located here, and excursions depart from the overwater pier. Guests can enjoy use of
free snorkeling equipment
and outrigger paddle canoes. However, my advice is to take advantage of this earlier in the day rather than later - the equipment is popular and you may find they run out.
There is also entertainment several nights a week, and guests can go next door to see the Polynesian dancers perform at the Sofitel BoraBora Beach Resort.
These performances are something you don't want to miss, either. The costumes are beautiful, the Polynesian drums are hypnotic, and the dancing is very exciting-especially the fire twirlers!
This accommodation is ideal if you are not going to be spending much time in your room, but still want the convenience of a full-service hotel and restaurant on the beach. This would be more ideal for a family than the big resorts, also, because it is not as sprawling as a lot of them are.
Rate range: Approx. $114. to $152.00. However, several different packages are available. Please see
for more information.
If you want to be right on the beach, one of the best choices for Bora-Bora cheap hotels is Chez Nono. It is located on the white sands of Matira Beach, and a grocery store and many other options for eating are within walking distance.
There are rooms in the big house and 4 bungalows located at Chez Nono. The rooms share a kitchen and bathroom with solar hot water. The bungalows have private bathrooms with solar hot water. (When searching for budget accommodations, make sure you know whether hot water is available - many have only cold and you don't want to be surprised!) The two larger bungalows are built in the traditional style, with thatched roofs and bamboo walls. They overlook the lagoon, making them the popular choice. However, please realize that Matira beach is a public beach and can be busy. Don't expect a lot of privacy. Contact Chez Nono at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Teremoana Tours is operated by Nono. He takes guests around the island on a very popular tour on his motorized outrigger canoe from 9:30-4:30, including a picnic on a motu.
Teremoana Tours also has a 4-wheel drive safari tour available.
There are several other pensions that can be classified as Bora-Bora cheap hotels.
On the main island:
Pension Moon-4 bungalows with private bathrooms and kitchens. email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org
Pension Anau-Chez Teipo-6 small, thatched roof bungalows. 2 with hot water, 4 with cold water. Bicycles and kayaks available. email@example.com
Bora Vaite-3 rooms and 2 equipped apartments. Located at the far northern end of the island.
Camping Chez Aldo-Camping space on the mountainside in Anau village. Washing machine and rental bikes available. Fax:689/67.60.29
On the motus:
Le Paradis-7 thatched-roof bungalows with private bathrooms and hot water. Located on Motu Paahi, a private islet 5 minutes by boat from the airport. firstname.lastname@example.org
Blue Heaven Island-5 small bungalows on private motu near the airport. Offers meals and
Bora Bora Eden Beach Hotel-16 bungalow eco-hotel located on Motu Piti Aau. Very simple, private, quiet. Access to both ocean and lagoon. Has had more mixed reviews than other Bora-Bora cheap hotels.
This should give you an idea of the variety of Bora-Bora cheap hotels available. You really don't have to stay in a
to have an incredible, unforgettable stay here.
TIPS: When choosing a place to stay on Bora Bora, remember to think of what you would like your view to be. When staying on the main island, you will have wonderful views of the motus or islets surrounding it. When you stay on a motu or private island, you will have amazing views of the mountains on the main island. Just a thought to keep in mind.
In my opinion, the best thing would be to stay some of the time on the main island, and some of the time on a motu. This way you would have the luxury of both perspectives!
In addition, it is a good idea to go to
to get recent traveler's opinions on specific cheap hotels (or any hotels) you are interested in. There will always be both good and bad opinions, but it is still very informative.
Another way to save money on Bora Bora is not eating in your hotel restaurant all of the time. Check out the
